Duo Due In Court Over Fraud Offences

Two people are due in court today charged with over 100 offences relating to fraud.

The pair, a 28-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman - both foreign nationals - face 124 charges relating to money laundering, counterfeit currency, fraud and theft in north and west Belfast.

The charges are a result of a four-month investigation into fraudulent activity in the area.

They will appear today at Belfast Magistrates Court today.

Elderly Man Accused Of Raping Minor
A 67-year-old man is to appear in court today, charged with raping and indecently assaulting a minor. The man was detained by police yesterday. It is believed the alleged offences took place in east Belfast between 2005 and 2006. The man is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning, police said.

Woman Convicted Of Over £50k Benefit Fraud
A Belfast woman has been convicted of benefit fraud amounting to over £50,000. 32-year-old Sinead Lawlor of Tyrone Street, Belfast claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £50,491.24 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 30 week prison sentence suspended for two years at Antrim Crown Court today.

Man Charged Over Banbridge Murder
A man charged with the murder of another man found dead in Banbridge is to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court today, 13 July. The body of 55-year-old Richard Gerard Scullion was found at a property in the Millmount Court area on Monday, 09 July. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
