BIC Systems awarded BIFHE IT project

Leading IT solution's company, BIC Systems has just completed a major project to design and implement a wide-ranging technology infrastructure solution for the Belfast Institute of Further & Higher Education (BIFHE).

The solution was designed to equip the Institute's new Millfield Campus with state of the art technology systems, which will be of benefit for the 40,000 full and part-time students at the Institute. In addition, BIC Systems was also required to provide training in the new systems for all relevant staff at the Institute.

Alan Dummigan, Assistant Director (Information and Communications Technology) for the Institute, said: "The Millfield Campus will be the jewel in the crown of our education offering. Students from all disciplines will be able to benefit from the state of the art services that will be available at the campus.

"The IT systems that have been designed and installed by BIC Systems will play a key role in supporting the services provided throughout the Campus. Also, the partnership that we have agreed with the company will significantly enhance our position in the educational sector."

The partnership agreed between BIC Systems and BIFHE will allow the institute to include a range of Microsoft initiatives, such as the Microsoft IT Academy Programme (MOUS - Microsoft Office User Specialist, and MCP - Microsoft Certified Professional) – certification within its core curriculum.

Commenting on their work, Ed Vernon, Chief Executive of BIC Systems, said: "We are delighted to be involved with Belfast Institute at a number of different levels.

"This project has allowed the institute to set itself up as a standard bearer in the Northern Ireland educational sector. It has also given us the opportunity to highlight the creative and innovative solutions that we can provide to our customers in this sector."
