Rioters United!

Northern Ireland rioters have gone hi-tech.

Police believe a riot in Londonderry over the weekend - involving up to 100 youths - was organised on the Internet.

They believe it was orchestrated through social networking websites.

The shock announcement comes after police officers were attacked on Friday night after they tried to break up rival gangs on Abercorn Road in the cityside area.

They said that two rival gangs turned on the police when they tried to calm the situation down. And they were pelted with bottles and bricks.

Although there were no injuries, the trouble was serious and led to four teenagers being arrested for public order offences as large crowds gathered in the Rosemount area.

Police say it began as a row between two individuals, but escalated when their friends were alerted to get involved.
