Robbery Arrest Cops Attacked
A troubled Co Armagh town has again seen a weekend of violence.
Police were attacked as they arrested two people following an armed robbery in Lurgan.
Crowds aimed stones, bottles and other missiles at the cops on Saturday night.
The incident came after police followed up a robbery when two masked men with handguns entered a shop at Taghnevan Walk at 10pm and forced staff to hand over cash and cigarettes before they ran off.
Afterwards, two males, aged 17 and 23, were arrested and two imitation handguns and stolen property recovered.
Detectives at Lurgan are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and they particularly want to hear from at least four customers who were in the shop at the time.
They also want to hear from a motorist who stopped to talk to police at Tandragee Road at about 10.15pm.
