Senior Catholic Police Officer To Step Down
Northern Ireland's most senior Catholic police officer is to step down from his post as Assistant Chief Constable of the PSNI, it has been revealed.
Peter Sheridan, who started his career as a cadet in the RUC over 30 years ago, will join the cross-border group Co-operation Ireland.
He will take up the post in September.
A PSNI spokeswoman said: "He is retiring from the police service after 32 years service to take up a post as chief executive of Co-operation Ireland."
Mr Sheridan was considered a possible successor to Sir Hugh Orde as chief constable. He was also awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours last year.

SDLP to meet police chiefs over Belfast disturbances
An SDLP delegation comprising all of its councillors and MLAs in Belfast is set to meet with police chiefs over the recent street violence in the city. The delegation will meet with Assistant Chief Constable Alan McQuillan and the four Belfast District Commanders at 6pm this evening in Castlereagh PSNI station.

£20m cash boost for rural post offices announced
Rural post offices in Northern Ireland are set to receive more than £6.9 million-a-year for the next three years, in the largest ever government support package for this vital community service. The money is part of a £450 million national fund to safeguard the future of thousands of rural post offices, which was unveiled by the government today.

Former PSNI Deputy Chief Constable loses cancer battle
PSNI Deputy Chief Constable Colin Cramphorn has lost his battle with cancer. Mr Cramphorn, 50, was acting Chief Constable of the PSNI prior to being appointed as Chief Constable of West Yorkshire. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004.

PSNI Chief Superintendent Michele Larmour is to take up a new post of Assistant Chief Constable at West Midlands Police. Mrs Larmour came within the top performers on the Strategic Command Course which she graduated from on the 13th March 2015. In West Midlands Police, Michele is joining the second largest police Force in England.

PSNI Chief Constable Begins New Role
The new PSNI Chief Constable has officially started his role today. George Hamilton has taken over from Matt Baggott who announced his retirement in January. In a video message, Mr Hamilton said: "I joined the police service to keep people safe and it's that same motivation that drove me to apply for the job of Chief Constable.
