Meat Cleaver Robber Sought

A female shop assistant has been threatened with a meat cleaver during a robbery in west Belfast.

A man carrying a cleaver entered an off-licence on the Springfield Road at about 4pm on Tuesday and demanded cash from the till - escaping with an undisclosed sum of money.

The woman was unhurt but said to be badly shaken.

Police have appealed to any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

Armed Gang Attack Two Men In Co Antrim
Two men, aged 19 and 22, have been injured after being assaulted by a gang, armed with weapons including a meat cleaver, in Co Antrim. The attack happened on the Antrim Road in Newtownabbey at around 2.15am on Sunday, 19 November. One of the men sustained injuries to his head and needed staples and the other had to have stitches for a hand injury.

Man Armed With Meat Cleaver Robs Bookmakers In Lurgan
A man armed with a meat cleaver has robbed a bookmakers in Lurgan, County Armagh. The incident occurred just after 9pm on Thursday and a sum of cash was taken. A police spokesperson said: The robber made off from the bookmakers on foot in the direction of Ulster Street.

Pensioner attacked with meat cleaver
A 65-year-old man suffered head injuries after he was attacked in north Belfast last night. The pensioner was walking his dog in Duncairn Gardens around 9.10pm when a number of men got out of a white Hyundai car and attacked him with a meat cleaver.

Minister announces aid package for beef industry
Agriculture Minister Jeff Rooker has announced new measures worth around £1.3 million to assist Northern Ireland's beef industry. The Minister explained that the package of measures announced for England in October will be replicated in Northern Ireland to help address the particular challenges facing the beef sector at present.

Off licence robbed in south Belfast
A man armed with a handgun has robbed an off-licence in the University Road area of south Belfast. Shortly after 7pm, a man entered the premises and produced a handgun and demanded money from the till. The man made off with an undisclosed sum of money.
