New forum chairman for construction industry
Peter Rogers, director and co-founder of Stanhope plc, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Strategic Forum for Construction, succeeding Sir John Egan with immediate effect.
Mr Rogers, who has been involved in a number of initiatives within the construction industry, said he was looking forward to building on the successful legacy achieved by Sir John Egan who, he said, had brought tremendous enthusiasm to the task of bringing together the wide and diverse interests of the construction industry.
He added that there were still a number of groups within the construction sector that had either not heard or not acted upon the Rethinking Construction message.
"We need to make sure that the Forum is as inclusive as possible and its strategy as clear and as simple as possible. We need to find ways of carrying the message throughout the industry, not simply to a small minority," he said.
"Big construction organisations are, on the whole, aware of Rethinking Construction, but dissemination down through the ranks is still weak. Targeting delivery will be a key objective for the Strategic Forum over coming months."
