Deaths Darken District

There have been three tragic deaths, all associated with Newtownabbey, in the last week.

In the first incident, the discovery of a woman's body at Carnmoney Hill last weekend is not being treated as a crime.

A major search operation involving police, lifeboat crews, the Coastguard and a rescue helicopter from Dublin was launched on Saturday morning along the shore of Belfast Lough near Hazelbank Park after the 41-year-old was reported missing.

The shoreline search was called off a short time later, and police have since confirmed that the woman's body was later discovered in the Carnmoney area.

A PSNI spokesperson said that there were "no suspicious circumstances."

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the body of a 39-year-old man was discovered at Rathfern Wood on Monday.

A police spokesman also said that "no crime is suspected" in that case either.

Meanwhile, police are refusing to comment on weekend media reports that a 62-year-old Newtownabbey man took his own life at Dunseverick Harbour near Bushmills.
