Roads Claim Three Lives

Three people have been killed on the Province's roads within the last 24 hours.

A 56-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in Lurgan, County Armagh.

It is believed the man was struck by a Renault Clio car close to the Chestnut Grove junction of the Ballynamoney Road shortly before 9.30pm last night.

Meanwhile, two men, one aged 20 and another in his 30s, have died after a collision between two lorries on the A5 between Omagh and Newtownstewart.

The crash happened close to the Mellon Country Inn at 1530 GMT on Thursday.

The 20-year-old was the driver of one of the lorries, while the other man was a passenger in the second. The other driver has been taken to hospital.

Tommy Blee from the Ambulance Service attended the crash: "It was a harrowing scene. The A5 is a notorious piece of road which has claimed another two lives," he said.
