Two jailed over shooting of 11-year-old girl
Two men have been jailed for their involvement in a shooting that left an 11-year-old girl seriously injured.
The men, from Co Londonderry, were sentenced at Belfast Crown Court today for possession of a submachine gun and bullets with intent to endanger life.
John Thomas Hazlett, 31, from Alexander Road in Limavady and Darren John Clarke, 21, from Loughanhill Park in Coleraine were sentenced to seven and five years respectively.
On August 2000, Charlene Daly – then aged 11 years of age – was in the living room of a house in Jefferson Park in Coleraine's Ballysalley estate when the front of the house was racked by gunfire.
As Charlene ran across the room, she was hit in the back with a bullet. She was immediately taken to Coleraine Area Hospital where she was described as ill but stable. Surgeons later said that she was "lucky to be alive".
It is believed that the incident is related to a feud between loyalists in the area.

Man Sentenced To 12 Years Over Coleraine Murder
A 37-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to murdering another man during an assault in Coleraine. Richard Dalzell, from Whinpark Road, Newtownards, was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Belfast Crown Court for the murder of Mark Lamont in September 2016.

Police Appeal For Missing Coleraine Man Andrew Smith
Police are appealing for information to trace missing Coleraine man Andrew Smith. Mr Smith, 28, was last seen in the Ballysally area at around midnight. He is believed to have been driving a white Ford Focus. A PSNI spokesperson said: "We are keen to establish Andrew's whereabouts and that he is safe and well. Police can be contacted on 101.

A 76-year-old Coleraine man has been sentenced to nine years at Laganside Crown Court for three counts of sexual assault of a child. The man, who cannot be named in order to protect the victim's identity, will serve four years in prison and five years on licence.

Ulster Bank Seeks 60 Redundancies
Finance union IBOA has expressed concerns after the Ulster Bank told staff it is seeking up to 60 redundancies from its branches in Northern Ireland. The bank also said it is to stop Saturday opening hours at 11 of its branches from 07 May.
