Tractor Used In Bungled Robbery

An ATM dispenser has been badly damaged in an attempted robbery in Co Down.

The person responsible drove a tractor into the ATM in Rostrevor at 3.15am on Wednesday morning, leaving the cash machine and surrounding wall badly damaged.

No money was taken from the scene as the vehicle failed to break through the cash dispenser, which is emblazoned with the words "free cash machine here", located beside a grocery shop in The Square of the town.

The attempted robber fled the scene in a light-coloured hatchback car.

Police said that no money was taken in the attempted robbery but detectives in Newry have appealed for witnesses to come forward about the incident.
