Woman Sentenced For Wrongful Stabbing

A mother who stabbed a man she thought had sexually abused her son has received a four year suspended sentence.

Mr Justice Stephens said the woman would normally be jailed. The 41-year-old mother had attacked the man at a party last April when it was claimed her sister saw the woman's son being sexually abused.

The man was confronted by the mother of the boy at the party upon hearing of the alleged incident. After denying the allegation, the man was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife.

The woman pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She was given a two-year sentence, suspended for three years.
