Woman in shock after armed robbery

A 35-year-old woman has been treated for severe shock after she was tied up and threatened with a knife during an armed robbery at an off-licence in Carrickfergus today.

It is understood the woman heard a bang at the rear of the premises on Hawthorne Grove around 9.50am. When she investigated further, she was confronted by a masked man brandishing a knife.

She was forced into the office and threatened before the being tied up by the intruder, who then made off with a substantial sum of money.

The woman was eventually freed by a colleague before being taken to hospital.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Woman Found Unconscious On Co Down Road
A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.

Man To Appear In Court Charged With Robbery In North Belfast
A man is to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court today, 19 April, charged with a robbery at an off-licence in north Belfast. The incident happened at premises on the Crumlin Road at around 7.35pm on Sunday. The man, armed with a knife, threatened staff and made off with a quantity of cigarettes and alcohol.

Woman Threatened By Man Armed With A Knife In South Belfast
A young woman has been threatened by a man with a knife in her bedroom is south Belfast. The incident happened at a property in the Ireton Street area at approximately 2.45pm on Friday. The 19-year-old victim was told to stay in her room and the man stole a laptop.
