O’Loan Appointed East Timor Envoy
Northern Ireland's former Police Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan has been announced as a special Irish Government envoy for East Timor.
Irish Foreign Minister Dermot Ahern made the announcement yesterday during a two-day visit to the Asian state.
He is in the region to promote the Irish Government's Conflict Resolution Unit, which hopes to share lessons learned from the peace process with other states that have witnessed similar violence and conflict.

Irish Activists To Be Released By Israelis
Six Irish activists currently being held by Israel are to be released as international pressure and public outrage mounts over the attack on the flotilla taking aid to Gaza. The Irish activists have been detained in an Israeli camp for the past two days are to be released and flown home either today or tomorrow.

Adams attacks Irish justice minister
Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has launched a scathing attack on Irish justice minister Michael McDowell claiming he wouldn't trust him "to go to the shop for a bottle of milk". Mr Adams made his remark after the Dail TD claimed the Irish Government's role within the current peace process was that of an honest broker.

The British Government amnesty proposal is about protecting British state forces including those involved in the murder of Irish citizens, Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly has said. The MLA was commenting following an admission by a member of the Glenanne Gang on "the high levels of collusion".
