Skye Nightclub Murder Accused Set For Trial

A man has been sent for trial charged with the rape and murder of a woman after leaving a Belfast nightclub.

Grace Moore, 38, was raped and murdered after she left Skye nightclub in Howard street at 2.00am on 18 November 2006.

Having left with a female friend and four men, she was last seen getting into a car at the nearby junction of Upper Queen Street and Howard Street, a short time later.

Ms Moore was found dead in her flat at Erris Grove in the Suffolk area of Belfast.

The accused, Kristoff Alauya, 24, from Nigeria, but with no fixed address other than County Carlow, is also accused of stealing the victim’s jewellery and other personal items.

Mr Alauya told a magistrate he did not want to say anything in relation to the alleged offences.

He was remanded in custody to be returned to Belfast Crown Court at a later date.

The Skye nightclub hit the headlines again earlier this week after 23 year-old Aaron Montgomery was killed outside the venue.

Ciaran Laverty, 18, of Woodland Grange in Belfast has been since charged with manslaughter in connection with the death at Belfast Magistrates Court.
