Man seriously ill in hospital following attack

Four men have been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a man in Banbridge at the weekend.

The injured man was found by police in the early hours of Sunday morning, following clashes between rival groups in the Newry Street area of the town.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, two men have been charged in connection with an attack on police officers in west Belfast earlier this month.

One of the men, who's aged 30, is charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, while a 34-year-old man has been charged with affray and escaping lawful custody.

The charges relate to an incident on September 8 when a mob attacked police as they tried to arrest a man on the Falls Road.

Both men are expected to appear before magistrates in Belfast today.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Two Men Arrested Over Shooting Attack In L'Derry
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting attack in L'Derry. A man was shot in the leg at a premises in Central Drive on 27 March. A 26-year-old and a 49-year-old man were arrested on Wednesday, 19 April. They have been detained and are being questioned by the police.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
