Police Probe Glenshane Body Find

Police are investigating the discovery of a man's body on the Glenshane Pass.

The find was made this morning at around 11am close to the Ponderosa bar, which is claimed to be Ireland's highest at over 1,000ft.

Police, who are investigating the circumstances of the find, said that a post mortem is to be carried out to establish the cause of the man's death.

The location is on the main road between Belfast and Londonderry and is known for the beautiful scenery of Glenshane.

The Ponderosa is written of in numerous books, including the award-winning novel Harry's Game by Gerald Seymour.

The bar began life as a little farmhouse nestling in idyllic surroundings at the highest point on the mountain road between Belfast and Derry.

30-Year-Old Man Dies In Glenshane Pass Collision
Police have renewed an appeal for information on a fatal road traffic collision on the Glenshane Pass. A 30-year-old man died when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a tanker lorry near the Ponderosa bar between Dungiven and Maghera at 05:20 on Monday 09 August.

Man Held Over Co Derry Abduction Claim
A suspect has been arrested as detectives investigate the alleged abduction of a teenage girl, aged 14. The 39-year-old man was held after the girl reported that she was bundled into the boot of a car by a man as she was walked along Glenshane Road. The incident was reported to have happened in Dungiven in County Londonderry on Monday morning.
