Tragedy As Six-Year-Old Armagh Pupil Dies

Despite efforts by teachers to give emergency aid, a six-year-old boy has died after collapsing at his school in Armagh city.

The child took ill in class at St Patrick's Primary School on Monday morning and teachers gave him first aid immediately, but he died later in hospital.

The principal of the Loughgall Road school, Kevin Devlin, said their thoughts were with the little boy's family.

"I can confirm that a pupil attending this school has died," he commented.

"The child took ill and was immediately attended to by teaching staff before being rushed to hospital where he subsequently passed away."

A post mortem examination will be carried out on the child's body on Tuesday while the police are investigating the sudden death.
