Jack's The Lad In NI
The most popular childrens' names in the Province are Jack and Katie.
Almost 300 boys were named Jack and more than 270 baby girls were given the name Katie this year in Northern Ireland.
It is the fifth year that Jack has topped the poll of boys names, whilst Katie has been the favourite for the last four.
James and Grace were the second most favourite baby names, according to figures from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency.
James climbed from fourth most popular name in 2006 to second most popular this year in Northern Ireland, forcing Matthew out of the top two for the first time in 12 years.
This year the name, Thomas, has increased in popularity rising from rank 13 in 2006 to rank six in 2007.

Jack and Katie were the most popular first names given to children born in Northern Ireland in 2004, it was revealed today. Since 2000, Jack and Matthew have remained the two most popular boys’ names while Katie entered the top ten most popular names for girls in 2002, before hitting the top spot in 2004.

Jack and Emma most popular NI baby names
Jack and Emma were the most popular names given to Northern Ireland children born in 2003. The figures, researched by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency, showed that the name Emma moved up from joint seventh place and Jack moved up from second place in 2002.
