Woman’s Body Pulled From Lough As Tragic Bridge Fall Body Found

Separate drowning tragedies have been reported over the weekend as a woman's body was recovered from a lough in Co Down, while the remains of a man were pulled from the River Foyle in Londonderry.

The body recovered by the Fire and Rescue Service from the Lough in Crossgar is understood to be that of a "vulnerable" 41-year-old woman reported missing by police on Sunday morning.

She had last been seen on the Killyleagh Road in Crossgar on Friday night.

The PSNI said: "The body of a female was found in a Lough in Crossgar on Sunday morning.

"Police are conducting inquiries surrounding the discovery but at this stage the circumstances are not thought to be suspicious and a crime is not suspected.

Meanwhile, the police say that another body was also removed from the Foyle yesterday.

"The body of a male was found at 9am on Sunday," a spokesman said.

"Inquiries into that incident are ongoing and a postmortem examination is to be carried out."

The body is thought to be that of a teenager who was seen falling into the river from the Craigavon Bridge in Derry almost a fortnight ago.
