Carlow Stab Victim From Belfast

A young woman who comes originally from Belfast has been found stabbed to death at her adopted home in the Irish Republic.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of Ciara Campbell, who was found with fatal wounds at her home in Carlow Town.

The 22-year-old was found dead in her bathroom by emergency services after being called by a man who was also in the house.

The 23-year-old man is now expected to be questioned by gardaí

He is currently being treated in hospital for injuries which are thought to be self-inflicted.

Ms Campbell's four-year-old son, who was also in the house at the time, is now being cared for by relatives.

The young woman – although originally from Belfast - is understood to have lived much of her adult life in the Springfield area of the southwest Dublin suburb of Tallaght.

She moved to the County Kildare town of Athy four years ago.

Ms Campbell had been working in a shop and attending a course for single motherhood, while living in rented accommodation at Ardmore Gardens in the Brownshill area of Carlow Town.

Neighbours spoke of their deep shock and sadness at the loss of a friendly young woman often seen playing with her little boy outside their home.

Woman Found Unconscious On Co Down Road
A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.
