Arrests In Police Drugs Swoop
North Belfast's loyalist Tigers Bay area was one of the areas targeted by the PSNI yesterday as officers sought drug dealers.
Five men were arrested as police carryied out a planned search of houses in the area.
All were later released without charge, but pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service.
Officers arrested the men yesterday for sale of illegal drugs following searches of five different addresses, including one in Dundonald.
The arrests came on the back of criticism of the PSNI following the death of teenager Dean Clarke who took his own life days after taking drugs.
His devastated mother, Alison, who buried her son on Wednesday, blamed the UDA for his death and lashed out at police, accusing them of protecting drug pushers because they were informants.
First Minister Ian Paisley has called on the Government to take immediate action to tackle open drug dealing in parts of Belfast.
"He was sold, to him in the open market, a drug pill for 50p," he told the Commons yesterday.
"This was sold to him in an area that is dominated by Protestant paramilitaries.
"I make a call to the Government to take immediate action into drug selling openly in parts of Belfast.
"That is something that is intolerable and I trust that this House and the Government will understand just how we feel," Mr Paisley added.
