Bangor Line Train Victim Stable

There was considerable disruption to commuters last night after a man was struck by a train on the Belfast to Bangor line.

A man in his 20s sustained chest and head injuries after the incident on the railway line, near Cultra Station, at about 6.20pm on Tuesday.

He is now in a stable condition in hospital and while no one on the train was injured, the train driver was said to be badly shaken.

Police and Translink officials have begun an investigation to establish what happened. Detectives have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Train services on the line were suspended for a time but later resumed.
