Ahern Meets Eames' Troubles Reconciliation Group

As part of a series of meetings with various shades of opinion, the body set up by the British Government to decide on the best way to address the legacy of the troubles in Northern Ireland is meeting the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, for talks today.

The group is led by Robin Eames, the former Anglican primate of all Ireland, and Denis Bradley, the former vice-chairman of the Policing Board.

They have been asked to consult with various groups and individuals before recommending a way to address ongoing hurt arising from the troubles.

One proposed idea is a South African-style truth commission.

The group is meeting the Taoiseach today to discuss the possible options and is also expected to meet 'Justice for the Forgotten', the body that represents victims of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings and other alleged loyalist atrocities in the Republic.
