Euro Millions For Skills Training

Northern Ireland is set to receive some £114 million to reduce unemployment and the number of ‘economically inactive’ people over the next six years.

The Euro cash will focus on disadvantaged groups including the disabled, single parents, older workers, young people and women with none or few qualifications.

The announcement is part of a £3 billion allocation for the United Kingdom as a whole over the period 2007-2013 from the European Social Fund (ESF) to boost job creation and skills.

Vladimir èpidla, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, said: "The ESF strengthens Europe’s capacity to create good jobs and equip workers with the right skills to fill them."
