Tasting The Best Of Ulster
A top food competition that highlights the best of Northern Ireland’s food and drinks has just been launched.
THE Northern Ireland Food and Drink Association (NIFDA) is organising the 2007 Food & Drink Awards, sponsored by Ulster Bank.
The award categories are Taste of Ulster Service Sector Award; Ulster Bank Best New Product Large Company Award; Ulster Bank Best New Product Small Company Award; Best Organic Producer/Product Award; Supply Chain Excellence Award and Outstanding Contribution to NI Food and Drink Award.
NIFDA’s Michael Bell, organiser of the event said: “We are delighted to launch the ninth Food & Drink Awards.
“There are no other awards in Northern Ireland that rewards the hospitality industry, right down to the farmer, for their commitment to growing, producing and serving local food and drink.
“We at NIFDA and Taste of Ulster want to highlight the champions of Northern Ireland products”.
The awards for the biennial event will take takes at the Ramada Hotel, Belfast on Friday November 30 and celebrates the best local produce, suppliers and outlets in the hospitality industry.

Taste Of Ulster Gets Cash Boost
A £150,000 support package for several projects promoting the quality of local food - such as the successful Taste of Ulster scheme - has been announced by the Northern Ireland Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill. The Minister made the announcement today as she met with one of the beneficiaries of the funding support, Food NI.

NI Film Fails To Impress At Oscars
There was disappointment in Los Angeles overnight for Northern Ireland after the movie 'short', The Crush, lost out to God of Love in the Live Action Short category at the Oscars ceremony. However, British film The King's Speech reigned supreme at this year's Oscars by winning four awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.

Awards Success For Radio Ulster
Northern Ireland's most listened to radio station is celebrating winning four awards at this year's Phonographic Performance Ireland (PPI) Radio Awards. Radio Ulster won four awards at the ceremony which took place at Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny on Friday night. The Nolan Show picked up a Gold Award for the Current Affairs Programme of the Year.
