Strabane family escapes arson attack
A family of four have had a lucky escape after arsonists pushed a firework through the letterbox of their home in County Londonderry.
The woman and her three children were asleep in their house in the Brambles area of Strabane when the arsonists struck in the early hours of this morning.
The family were alerted when a fire alarm went off and no injuries were reported.
However, the resulting fire caused minor smoke damage and scorched a section of the hallway.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

More than 500 farm family members and employees have attended First Aid Awareness training since March 2018, as part of the Farm Family Key Skills (FFKS) scheme. Up to 100 accidents which need medical attention occur each month on Northern Ireland farms.

Family home attacked by arsonists in Derry
A Protestant family, whose home was attacked last night in Derry, said that their home has been the subjected to over one hundred sectarian attacks. Four members of the Jackson family, including three children, were in their house in the Fountain estate area of the city, at the time of the attack, however no one was injured.

Public Safety Minister Edwin Poots has opened a new £4.4m Community Fire Station in Omagh, County Tyrone. The new Community Fire Station & District Headquarters on the Killybrack Road includes onsite facilities for firefighter training and transport and engineering workshops.
