Court Hears Of Carrickfergus Turmoil
A court has been told of a large number of serious incidents, including shootings and death threats in the seaside town of Carrickfergus.
Belfast High Court was hearing applications from two of the five men arrested in the town last weekend after the latest outbreak of trouble between members of the mainstream paramilitary UDA and the breakaway South East Antrim faction.
A Crown lawyer said there had been three shooting incidents and a pipe bomb attack since July.
Death threats have also been made against more than 90 people caught up in a loyalist feud in the area,
He was speaking as two men appeared in court after an incident in the town.
Barry Waite, 33, from Sunningdale Crescent, and George Clarke, 43, from Castlemara Drive, both Carrickfergus, denied causing grievous bodily harm.
They were both ordered to lodge £600 in court before being released on bail.
The men were alleged to have attacked another man, Thompson Gilmore, who was said to have been stabbed and slashed in the wrists and also to have received a puncture wound to his shoulder.

Lithuanians Charged Over Fitzpatrick Death
Two Lithuanian men have been remanded in custody charged with the murder of shop manager Shaun Fitzpatrick in Dungannon on Easter Sunday. The two accused are 21-year-old Andrius Dunauskas, of Lisnahall Road and Raminas Balseris of Altmore Drive, both in Dungannon.

Pair Charged With Portaferry Murder
Two men have been charged with the murder of a man who was assaulted in Portaferry over a week ago. Ryan Macrae was attacked at Church Street in the Co Down town shortly before 1am on Sunday 14 October. The 32-year-old was admitted to hospital but died 10 days later.

Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Man Stabbed In Co Down
A 36-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Co Down. The 54-year-old victim was stabbed in the Manor Court area in Moira on Monday. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The woman is to appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Two men have been charged in relation to a stabbing incident last month in County L'Derry. The suspects, aged 18 and 22, are accused of withholding information and obstruction. Two women, both aged 22, were attacked while walking close to Beresford Avenue in Coleraine at around 11.25pm on Sunday 13 January.
