APT sign Korean licensing agreement

One year after announcing a multi-million pound licensing deal with South Korean firm Open Solution, Belfast-based Audio Processing Technology (APT), have signed an additional exclusive licensing agreement.

Witnessed by Invest Northern Ireland CEO Leslie Morrison, the deal was signed in South Korea by Noel McKenna, the Managing Director of APT, and Dr Jongwook Kim, the CEO of Open Solutions.

The licence is for Open Solution's enhanced 16, 20 and 24 bit algorithms for wireless semiconductor applications that will see the technology used in a custom designed product, the DWM3000. This will be used to enable advanced wireless audio in a range of consumer devices such as wireless headphones for personal audio players, loudspeakers and DVD players.

The extension of the existing licensing agreement is viewed as a major achievement for APT and one that is likely to generate healthy royalty revenue when production of consumer electronics products incorporating the chips begins.
