Police Uncover Fake Weapons Cache

A crossbow, fake weapons and some airguns have been recovered by police during raids in County Antrim which also netted considerable quantities of illegal, potentially dangerous fireworks.

Firework rockets up to four feet in length, illegal ‘bangers’ and 98 replica weapons including a fake Heckler and Koch MP5 machine gun were among the goods seized.

Investigators said the estimated £14,000 stash, discovered this week in north Belfast and Carrickfergus, had the potential to kill but added it was unlikely to be linked to organised crime.
