Toddler Hospitalised After Car Plunges Into Canal
A two-year-old boy has been seriously injured after his family car plunged into Newry Canal yesterday afternoon.
It is understood the car swerved off the road to avoid an oncoming vehicle on the Omeath Road at around 2.30pm.
There were three other family members in the car at the time of the incident, who were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
After being taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, the toddler was transferred to the Royal Victoria after it is believed he started suffering breathing difficulties.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

Serious Road Accident In L'Derry
Police are appealing for witnesses of a serious road accident in Maghera, Co L'Derry, on Sunday night. A man in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital following the two car collision on the Coleraine Road. It is understood a number of people were injured in the collision but none of them seriously.

Two die in separate road accidents
Two people have died in separate road accidents in Counties Londonderry and Down. In the latest accident, a man died following a road traffic accident in Ballynahinch on Wednesday. The accident occurred on the Crossgar Road at around 10.30am. Only one vehicle is believed to have been involved. The victim's name has yet to be released.
