Loyalist Feud In Carrickfergus

Police are investigating a shooting incident in the Glenfield Walk area on Monday morning at 12.30am.

A police spokesperson said that a householder had heard a noise and discovered that a shot had been fired through the front window of the house.

The attack is being attributed to the latest in a series of incidents in a loyalist feud in the area.

Earlier, a pipe bomb attack damaged the back of a house in Carrickfergus. No-one was injured in the incident at Cairnhill Walk.

A police spokesperson said that two people had been arrested as a crowd gathered in the Marine Highway area following the attack.

Northern Ireland Secretary Shaun Woodward has condemned the attacks and pointed out that the Assembly's Social Development Minister had given the UDA, which has denied any involvement in the attacks, an ultimatum over community funding.
