Four dissident republican accused appear in Dublin court

Four men from County Armagh have appeared at Dublin's Special Criminal Court today in connection with membership of "an illegal organisation styling itself the IRA".

The four men, ranging from 20 to 50 years of age, were arrested last Friday night by Gardai in County Monaghan. The men were all remanded in custody until November 19.

This is second sitting of the court in two days in relation to alleged dissident paramilitary activities. On Saturday, two men arrested in Limerick appeared at Dublin Special Criminal Court charged with membership of an illegal organisation and possession of explosives and ammunition. One of the men also faced a further charge of possession of an assault rifle. The pair were remanded in custody until Wednesday.
