Newtownabbey Car Workshop Destroyed In Suspicious Blaze
A car workshop in Newtownabbey has been destroyed in a fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
The fire at the premises on Arthur Road was reported shortly after 3am on Thursday and around 55 firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze.
Three fast-food restaurants sustained damage to their roofs in the blaze, while some nearby homes were also evacuated.
One man, understood to have been living in the house closest to the workshop, had to be led to safety by fire crews.
Firefighter Gary Thompson told reporters that initial indications were that the fire was "suspicious and deliberate".

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Two Fires At Derelict Factory In Co Tyrone Being Treated As Arson
Two fires at a derelict factory in Co Tyrone are being treat as arson. The first blaze started at Herdman's Mill in Sion Mills on Friday, 10 June, which caused substantial damage. The second fire was started on Saturday, 11 June, at around 8.30pm, and caused further damage. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Fire crews deal with separate fires in Co Antrim
Police are appealing for information following two suspicious fires in Co Antrim in the early hours of Friday morning. The first fire was discovered at a factory unit in north Belfast at around 12 midnight. It is believed the blaze started when paper inside the unit was set alight. Some windows and two other units were damaged in the fire.

Minister Condemns Attacks On Fire Crews
Attacks on fire crews place their lives in danger and put communities at risk, said Public Safety Minister Michael McGimpsey today. Condemning a further spate of attacks on firefighters in Dungannon and Londonderry over the weekend, the Minister said it was absolutely unacceptable for anyone to assault emergency workers.

Police investigating an overnight fire at a derelict hotel in County Londonderry - where a firefighter died in an earlier blaze - are treating the blaze as suspicious. More than 30 firefighters tackled the fire at the Gorteen House Hotel on the Roe Mill Road, Limavady. It was discovered at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
