93-year-old robbed in broad daylight
Detectives at Castlereagh have appealed for information after an elderly woman was robbed in east Belfast yesterday.
At around 3.30pm, a 93-year-old lady was walking along Montgomery Road from the direction of Cregagh Road when a silver coloured car with two men on board stopped to offer her a lift.
She got into the car and was driven into nearby Bapaume Avenue and into an alleyway, which runs parallel with Picardy Avenue. Her handbag was taken from her and she was pulled out of the car by her arms and onto the ground.
She suffered an injury to her hand and was extremely shocked by the ordeal.
Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen a silver-coloured car acting suspiciously in the area of Montgomery Road, Bapaume Avenue or Picardy Avenue at around 3.30pm to contact them.
Elsewhere, a man is recovering in hospital after being attacked in his home in east Belfast last night.
At around 9pm, the man was in the living room of his Ashford Green home with his girlfriend when two masked men forced their way into the house. They attacked the couple with baseball bats before damaging the man's car which was parked outside.
The man was treated for a broken left leg and cuts to his arms and face. The woman was slightly injured.
And a man was being treated in hospital last night after being shot in a paramilitary-style shooting.
The man, who was shot in the right leg, was taken by ambulance from Hulls Lane in Lisburn, Co Antrim, shortly after 8.30pm.
Police have appealed for anyone with information on contact them.
