188 Jobs To Be Created In Cork
188 new jobs are to be created in Cork following the announcement that three firms are to set up operations in the city.
US software company Solarwinds is to establish its European headquarters in Mahon, and is expected to employ 75 people in the next three years.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin said: "SolarWinds is a highly successful company and will be a very welcome addition to the software industry in Ireland. We are delighted the company chose Cork as the location for its EMEA Headquarters and it joins a number of other companies who have located such operations there in the last couple of years. This investment was won against strong competition from other locations across Europe."
In addition, Eirebloc Ltd, a new high potential start-up company, is to invest €16m to develop a specialist facility to manufacture composite pallet blocks from recycled wood, using environmentally sustainable methods.
The project will lead to the creation of 73 new jobs in Macroom over the next 2 years. Enterprise Ireland is providing a level of support towards an initial €6m investment by the company.
Richard Murphy, Manager of Regional Development, Enterprise Ireland said: “Operating in a traditional sector, Eirebloc will create a sustainable competitive advantage through innovation and technology acquisition. Using recycled wood as a raw material, Eirebloc will become one of a small number of European producers of an advanced pallet component, for which demand is steadily growing in European markets. The Eirebloc announcement is an example of the potential for innovation and technology adoption to create significant market opportunities in traditional sectors.”
A financial services company is also due make a jobs announcement later today.
