Eight Injured In Dunmurry Fire

Eight people have been injured in a fire at flats in Dunmurry.

Six police officers were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and two other people were taken to hospital.

One person was found unconscious at the scene of the fire in a flat at the Seymour Hill Estate. He was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

Police say that the fire is being treated as suspicious and one person has been arrested.

Police officers had managed to help one person from a nearby flat, but one person in the flat which was the seat of the fire could not be reached.

A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said that smoke detection and fire alarms in the building were operational and had alerted residents to the blaze.
