EU Peace Fund supports economic revitalisation
Up to £6 million in European Funding is being made available throughout Northern Ireland to support economic revitalisation through the provision of flexible workspace.
The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment is to commence advertising for projects to support the scheme which is being funded through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland (Peace II.)
The Peace II programme aims to help Northern Ireland become a peaceful and stable society and to promote reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland.
Part of the measures on economic revitalisation aims to encourage economic co-operation, particularly in interface areas or areas of community conflict.
The provision of workspace units aims to stimulate job creation through either a new build or the renovation of derelict or abandoned sites.
In addition, preference will be given to projects which benefit areas defined as New Targeting Social Need, demonstrate partnership/consultation with the local community and complement other regeneration initiatives.
Further information on this revitalisation measure can be obtained at www.eugrants.org
