Orange Hall Fire Being Treated As Arson

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service are treating a fire at an Orange hall at Portadown in County Armagh as arson.

The blaze at Seagoe Orange Hall was reported at about 2.30am on Thursday morning and it is understood a brick was thrown through a window before the fire was started.

Extensive damage has been caused to the property and police are now investigating the incident.

Orange Hall arson attack 'sectarian'
An arson attack on an Orange Hall in Co Armagh has been described as "sectarian". Newry and Armagh Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kennedy said the attack on Ballyrea Orange Hall on the Baltarran Road in Armagh was also an "attack on Protestant culture".

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Orange Hall Damaged During Arson Attack In L'Derry
An Orange Hall has been damaged during an overnight arson attack in Co L'Derry. Emergency services attended the blaze at Salterstown Orange Hall at around 4am on Monday, 15 August.

Two Orange Halls Attacked
Two Orange Halls have been attacked over the weekend. A number of paint bombs were thrown at Rosedernott Orange hall, outside Cloughmills, during the early hours of Sunday, 23 July. A Union flag was also removed, and a flag pole damaged, from inside the grounds of Roden Orange hall in Kilkeel.

NI's leading loyal order has launched ambitious plans to develop two interpretive centres. One of the Orange Order's new facilities will be at the organisation's headquarters in Belfast and the other in Loughall, Co. Armagh - founding place of Orangeism.
