Youth Released Without Charge Over Double Murder Inquiry

The teenager arrested in connection with inquiries into the deaths of two men in Belfast last March has been released without charge.

Police had arrested the 16-year-old male on Tuesday in west Belfast.

Edward Burns, 36, was found shot dead at Bog Meadows in west Belfast in the early hours of March 12, 2007. The body of Joseph Jones, 38, was found later the same day with severe head injuries, off Elmfield Street in north Belfast.

Mr Burns was the father of five children, while Mr Jones had three children.

At the time, detectives said they believed that the killings were carried out against a background of tensions within dissident republicanism.
