NiSoft secure BP contract

Belfast-based company NiSoft is celebrating further success in export markets with the latest sale of its safety document management software, eclipse, to the BP Kwinana Oil Refinery in Australia.

It is expected that the eclipse software will help improve plant equipment safety and productivity at the Kwinana refinery, which supplies most of western Australia's fuel needs.

This development follows on recent successes in winning contracts from major power generation companies in the area – Delta Electricity and China Light and Power's Yallourn power plant.

The new contract opens up a market of 750 BP oil refineries worldwide, with potential future revenue of £30 million for NiSoft 's eclipse software.

NiSoft believe that the competitive marketplace for oil and gas is "placing demands on producers to find ways to become more cost effective and productive, without compromising safety standards". In that role, NiSoft believe eclipse safety document management system aids engineers deliver real improvements in business performance and safety on site.

Commenting on the contract Jonathan Currie, NiSoft Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are delighted that BP, one of the world's major oil producers, has recognised the value that our safety document management system can bring to their business."

To meet the growing business volume, NiSoft has appointed a new Business Development Manager for the oil and gas industry.
