Teach At A Primary School In Swaziland

Leading meaningful travel organisation, i-to-i, has recently launched a brand-new project in Swaziland.

The latest addition to a growing body of more than 500 volunteer projects all over the world, the new teaching programme in Swaziland enables volunteers to contribute to the development of a country in desperate need of a more stable education system. With the continuing economic decline, HIV/AIDS pandemic, and the devastating droughts of recent years, the education system in Swaziland has been under increasing strain. By assisting with classes and inspiring the children, you can help them, and the society at large, build a brighter future.

Surrounded on all sides by South Africa and Mozambique, Swaziland is a country rich in wildlife and full of lush natural wonders. The volunteer project is based in the Ezulwini and Lobamba communities of Swaziland. The project currently works with four primary schools to improve the children’s day-to-day education, inspire them with extra-curricular activities, and facilitate greater international and cultural understanding. Volunteers are desperately needed, as the government does not have the resources available to provide quality education, and teachers at these particular schools are struggling with large classes—sometimes handling classes of 40 students or more. Volunteers for this project don't need any specific skills, but if you do have experience in any particular subject, it would definitely be advantageous.

To give you a head start with your teaching, the 40-hour i-to-i Online TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Course is included in your placement fee. And, if you want to be even more prepared when you step in front of a classroom of eager kids for the first time, you might also consider taking i-to-i’s interactive 20-Hour Weekend Course. During this comprehensive course, you'll be working with an experienced TEFL tutor and an enthusiastic group of fellow TEFL students to help you develop all the skills and confidence you’ll need to start teaching English abroad.

We'll make sure you are up to date with the latest teaching techniques and we'll show you how to apply them to your own teaching. At the end of each day, you'll have a chance to practice your new skills by delivering your own TEFL lesson to fellow students.

The next weekend course takes place in Belfast on 18-19 August at the Days Hotel.
