Ronaldo Misses Glentoran Match
East Belfast side Glentoran are set to take on Manchester United on Wednesday night at the Oval but Cristiano Ronaldo will not play for the Red Devils.
Thousands of adoring fans will flock to the Oval to watch the English champions in action but Ronaldo will remain in Manchester and will also miss the club’s other game on Wednesday against Scottish side Dunfermline.
The game is part of Glentoran’s 125th anniversary celebrations and although Ronaldo will not be in attendance, fans will not be disappointed.
Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Michael Carrick, John O’Shea and new summer signings Nani and Anderson are all set to play in the friendly as the Old Trafford outfit get set to kick off their Premiership defence this weekend against Reading.
Glentoran fans will also get the chance to see Northern Ireland star Jonny Evans in action following his return to United after a loan spell at Sunderland.
United boss Alex Ferguson will also miss the match because of family commitments.
Michael Dougherty is expected to continue between the posts for Glentoran as Elliott Morris is still sidelined through injury.
