NI Sniffer Dog Joins Hunt For Maddy
A sniffer dog used extensively in Northern Ireland has been deployed to take part in the search for the body of Madeleine McCann.
The springer spaniel, named Eddie, has been specially flown to Portugal as the investigation refocuses on the Algarve apartment where the four-year-old went missing.
Speculation has surfaced that Madeline died in the family flat although Madeleine's parents have affirmed their belief that their daughter is still alive.
Portuguese newspaper, the Diario de Noticias, reported that detectives now suspect that the young girl was not abducted at all but died in her family’s holiday flat on May 3.
Eddie, the sniffer dog, has been used in numerous disappearance and murder cases all around the world because of his accuracy.
The seven-year-old hound was instrumental in putting Trevor Hamilton behind bars for the murder of Strabane woman Attracta Hamilton.
Blood specks found in the apartment are now being tested to see if they came from the missing four-year-old.
