Teenage girl escapes abduction bid

Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl in the Fruithill area of Andersonstown yesterday afternoon.

The girl was with two friends when an old type navy Vauxhall Nova approached them. A passenger in the vehicle opened his door and tried to coax her into the car. However, the girl ran away and the car sped off.

There was thought to be five people in the car. The driver of the vehicle is described as being in his mid-30s with short black hair with grey through it, possibly wearing an earring, while the front seat passenger was wearing a navy jacket with white writing on it and a blue baseball cap.

The car is described as having scrapes on the bodywork.

Young girl escapes abduction attempt
A 12-year-old girl has escaped an abduction attempt in west Belfast on Wednesday. The driver of what was described by police as a "distinctive" black four-door car shouted at the girl to get into his vehicle on the Shaw's Road at about 9.15pm. The girl immediately screamed and ran off.

A woman and a young girl were knocked down at a pedestrian crossing on the Newtownards Road at around 8pm on Wednesday, 10 January. The black car failed to stay at the scene and made off in the direction of Dundonald.

Teenager Killed In L'Derry Crash
A teenage girl has died in a car accident in L'Derry. The two-vehicle crash occurred at around 5pm on Sunday. The 13-year-old is believed to have been from County Donegal. The road has been re-opened.

A nine-year-old girl has escaped uninjured after an opportunist car thief stole the car she was in at a Belfast petrol station yesterday. Tammy Lea Menagh was in the back seat of her grandfather's Peugeot 306 car when he stopped at York Road Filling Station at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Girl, 12, Killed In Newry Beach Buggy Crash
A 12-year-old girl has died in a crash involving a beach buggy in Newry. The girl was travelling on the buggy with another 14-year-old girl when they collided with a pick-up trick at around 2.50pm on the Flagstaff Road in Cloughogue on Saturday, 18 November. The 12-year-old girl died from her injuries.
