NI Duo Set To Face World's Best
Rory McIlroy and Jonathan Caldwell have both been named in the Britain and Ireland Walker Cup side to take on the US at Royal County Down Golf Club.
Thousands of golf fans are set to ascend on the County Down course for the prestigious event on September 8-9 to view some of the best golfing talent in the world.
Caldwell is a member of the Clandeboye club in Bangor and was a vital member of the Irish side that won the European Team Championship at Western Gailes last month.
Holywood’s Rory McIlroy also takes his place in the line-up hoping to continue on from his recent Open success in Carnoustie where he collected the silver medal for the leading amateur.
Announcing the Walker Cup team, Tony Disley, Chairman of The R&A Selection Committee said that they have picked a strong team that is more than capable of defeating the Americans at Royal County Down.

International Blind Golf Championships Set For Belfast
A surprising sport is coming to Northern Ireland - blind golfing. Belfast's Belvoir Park Golf Club will host the World Blind Golf Championships from 10 - 12 August. With one of the 'driving forces' behind the Championships being Comber's Jan Dinsdale - one of the top lady blind golfers in the world - the initiative is all the more appropriate.

ULSTER DUO INCLUDED IN WALKER CUP TEAM
MICHAEL Hoey and Graeme McDowell have been included in the British and Irish side to defend the Walker Cup against America at Sea Island, Georgia in August. The Ulster duo found their way into 10-man team which includes 40-year-old veteran Gary Wolstenholme.

Queen and Duke Of Edinburgh To Visit NI
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are to arrive in Northern Ireland today, 27 June, for a two-day visit. They will meet with the First and deputy First Minister as well as the NI Secretary of State Theresa Villiers. On Tuesday, 28 June, the Royal couple will visit the Giant's Causeway and also travel to Bushmills in Co Antrim.

Open Returns To NI
The Open golf competition is to return to Northern Ireland in 2019, it has been confirmed. The Royal Portrush Golf Club is to host the sport's oldest competiton for the first time since it was last hosted at the venue in 1951.

Darren Clarke Named Ryder Cup Captain
Northern Ireland golfer Darren Clarke has been named as the Europe Ryder Cup captain for 2016. The 2016 tournament will be held in Hazeltine, USA. Mr Clarke, originally from Dungannon in County Tyrone, has won the tournament four times as player and twice as a non-playing vice captain in 2010 and 2012.
