Police launch 'major operation' against loyalist crime
Police have launched what they described as a "major search and arrest operation" against loyalist paramilitaries and organised crime in the Waterside area of Londonderry.
Police confirmed that as of around 8.00am this morning seven men and one woman had been arrested during the search operations.
The 12 "search and arrest" type operations commenced at around 7.00am in Londonderry and police confirmed that one other search connected to the operation in Londonderry had taken place in Ballymoney, County Antrim.
A police spokesperson said that the operation was directed against "loyalist criminal and paramilitary activities".
It is understood that the main target of the operation may be proscribed paramilitary group the UDA.

Funeral for dinghy tragedy teenager
A Coleraine teenager, who drowned off the coast of Castlerock, is to be buried today. Robert McMullan, 15, died when the dinghy he was in with a friend got into difficulties and capsized on Tuesday. He was airlifted to hospital, but died later. His friend managed to swim to shore and raised the alarm.

Suspected Brothels Raided In Belfast
Police have raided a number of properties in Belfast that are suspected of being used as brothels. According to reports, a small number of people have been arrested and a number of people, believed to be victims of human trafficking, have been rescued.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police Attacked During Search Operation In L'Derry
Police have come under attack in L'Derry while attempting to carry out search operations. Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force were carrying out simultaneous searches at houses in L'Derry and Strabane, as part of an operation targeting the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).
