Gas Explosion Rips Apart Pensioner's Home
A pensioner has escaped any major injuries following a gas explosion at his home on the outskirts of west Belfast.
The blast blew out three walls and part of the roof as it ripped through the house in Glassveigh Gardens in Twinbrook at about 11.30pm.
The elderly man was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured and a woman in an adjoining house was treated for shock.
Residents in the area had to be evacuated and taken to a local hall as the emergency services made the area safe.

Body Found In Woodland
A body has been found in Ballymena, Co Antrim, police have said. The discovery was made in a woodland area, near to the Ecos centre on Monday afternoon. Police do not believe the death to be suspicious. No formal identification has yet taken place.

Elderly couple assaulted and robbed in Newcastle
An elderly couple have been assaulted at their home in Newcastle last night. One of the couple - a man in his 70's - was returning to his home at Knocksticken Road, Clough, after walking his dog. As he entered his kitchen, four men burst in behind him and forced him to the floor. His wife who was also in the kitchen was told to sit in a chair.

County Tyrone Woman Robbed In 'Distraction' Burglary
Police in Co Tyrone are appealing for information following a distraction burglary at an elderly woman's home. An man called at the 90-year-old woman's home in the Linen Court area of Dungannon at around 5pm on Thursday. He told the woman he had seen a burglar entering her home and advised her to check the house to ensure nothing had been taken.

A two-minute silence has been observed across the UK to mark Armistice Day and commemorate the end of the first world war on this day in 1918. The occasion was marked across NI at 11am to remember servicemen and women who died in battle. Wreath-laying ceremonies have also taken place at war memorials across the province.
