Pipe bomb explodes near police station

A pipe bomb has exploded close to Strabane police station and the PSNI believe it was the work of dissident republicans.

The device exploded at the back of the station at around 9.15pm last night.

No one was injured in the incident but residents from the nearby Courtrai Park were evacuated from their homes for a time during the resulting security alert.

One home was struck by fragments from the device causing damage to the roof of a porch.

All residents have now been allowed to return to their homes.

'Pipe Bomb' Explodes In Tobermore
The PSNI is investigating after a "pipe bomb type" device exploded in the Castle Park area of Tobermore, L'Derry, in the early hours of this morning (18 March). Police said a number of rear windows were damaged when the device exploded shortly before 01:00. Two adults and three children were in the house at the time, but were not injured.

Pipe Bomb Explodes In Holywood
A pipe bomb has partially exploded in Holywood, County Down. The PSNI has launched an investigation and carried out searches in the Church Green area, after a women in a property reported hearing a loud noise at about midnight. No one was injured and no damage was caused.

Pipe bomb explodes in adventure playground litter bin
A man and a six-year-old girl have both escaped serious injury after a pipe bomb exploded close to an adventure playground in north Belfast on Wednesday evening. It is believed the pipe bomb type device exploded after being dropped into a litterbin in the grounds of Belfast Castle by a number of youths. Both the man and girl suffered minor shock.

Bomb explodes at Portadown petrol station
A bomb has exploded at a petrol station in Portadown in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Police confirmed that a homemade device, electronically operated and packed with nails exploded at Lavery's garage on the Corcrain Road. While no one was injured in the incident, damage was caused to the back wall of the garage and a petrol pump.

Pipe Bomb Explodes Outside Craigavon House
An elderly woman has been treated for shock after a pipe bomb exploded outside her house in Craigavon. The device detonated at around 12.50am this morning, Thursday 07 March, in the Burnside area. Police said damage was caused to the front door and hallway of the property.
