Man wounded in Coleraine shooting

A 34-year-old man has been shot in the leg as he opened the door to his flat in Coleraine last night.

The man was struck with a baseball bat and shot once in the leg when he was confronted by two masked men at the door of his flat in Drumard Drive, Coleraine, at 12.30am this morning.

He is being treated in hospital for the gunshot wound to the leg.

Detectives at Coleraine are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 028 7034 4122 or by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man wounded in 'paramiltary-style' shooting in Coleraine
A man received a gunshot wound to his leg following what police described as a ‘paramilitary style shooting’ in Coleraine last night. The incident took place at around 10.10 pm in the Loughand Hill Park area. Three masked men burst into the man’s house and shot the man in his leg.

76-Year-Old Coleraine Man Jailed For Sexual Assault Of A Child
A 76-year-old Coleraine man has been sentenced to nine years at Laganside Crown Court for three counts of sexual assault of a child. The man, who cannot be named in order to protect the victim's identity, will serve four years in prison and five years on licence.

Ulster Bank Seeks 60 Redundancies
Finance union IBOA has expressed concerns after the Ulster Bank told staff it is seeking up to 60 redundancies from its branches in Northern Ireland. The bank also said it is to stop Saturday opening hours at 11 of its branches from 07 May.
